How We Started
About Whole Family Psychotherapy
I am a mother of two young boys who I love fiercely.
When I had my first child – I was blindsided by how hard it was. I expected that I’d be tired and perhaps a bit overwhelmed, but I also expected to be deeply satisfied and happy – and I was far from it. In some moments I was in awe of my baby and delighted to watch him grow – and in many more moments, I was desperate to escape and feeling intense rage and hopelessness. I was confused and ashamed by the dark thoughts I would have, and I was obsessed with getting it all right and became intensely controlling of who could help with my son and how. My husband and I felt like roommates, and the lack of sleep was destroying my ability to function.
The unbelievable part? I had good support, I had breaks, and an abundance of privilege. And it was still excruciating.

Perinatal Therapist
I knew for a long time that I wasn’t ok – and even with all my mental health experience, I struggled to reach out. When I finally started therapy, realized that I had postpartum depression and anxiety, and got treatment, it’s like the lights came back on. Slowly I dug out of my hole, and I was able to process the transition from womanhood to motherhood and start to truly enjoy my new role and new life. It was still hard at times, but I was equipped to manage it and found so much more joy in my day to day.
When I had my second son during the pandemic, I protected my mental health fiercely, and had a much smoother journey. I maintained my supports and deeply enjoyed the experience more often than not, despite the chaos in our world. Through this time I realized that nothing would make me happier than to support other parents through this journey. I took the plunge and resigned from my decade-long career as a hospital Social Worker, and started training to specialize in perinatal mental health, in order to launch my private practice.
I felt truly alive!
Quite quickly I realized how incredible the demand is for trained perinatal therapists, and as my waitlist grew, I felt the tug to expand and create a clinic to serve my community. Whole Family Psychotherapy is about providing the support you need while you get your feet on the ground. It’s about reconnecting to your needs and desires and filling your cup so that you can find new perspectives and space to grow. It’s about building authentic, deep, loving connections with your children, partner, family, friends and most importantly yourself.
Our team is ready to help you feel whole on your journey through parenting and life.

The care we provide
Inclusive, anti-oppressive
We recognize and value the diversity of our clients, including their identities, experiences, and backgrounds, and strive to create a safe and welcoming space for everyone. We work with families of every structure: same-sex parents, non-binary parents, single parents by choice, blended families, adoptive parents, and chosen family. We acknowledge how systems of oppression intersect and impact our clients’ wellbeing, and strive to be mindful of and actively addressing the systemic barriers our clients face.
Client-centered
Authentic and experienced
Our "Why"
The big picture - our mission to help
Parenthood is not hard because something is wrong with you - it’s hard because our system is broken.
Parents today have more work, less support, and more pressure around how to raise children than ever before. The parenting pendulum has swung too far in response to the authoritarian parenting of the past; our current culture’s intensive parenting ideals are leaving many parents feeling buried under the weight of self-sacrifice as they desperately try to get it all right without help or the ability to care for themselves.
And while some families find more gender equity, the vast majority of birthing individuals and mothers find themselves disproportionately burdened with the mental and physical load of caring for the home and children.
When parents are supported, the whole family system thrives.
Whole Family Psychotherapy aims to strengthen the foundation of the families we work with – the parents. When parents are nurtured – when they are truly seen and heard, when they build skills and resiliency and improve their mental well-being – their children inherit this well-being and it trickles down generation by generation.
This is nothing short of a revolution, and we are here for it!
